Europol is the European Union’s law enforcement agency whose main goal is to help achieve a safer Europe for the benefit of all EU citizens. The main goal of Europol is to improve and to enhance the co-operation between the competent authorities of the EU member states in preventing and combating serious international organized crime.

The Europol headquarters is situated in The Hague, Netherlands. Europol works closely with law enforcement agencies in all EU Member States as well as in other non-EU partner states such as Australia, Canada, USA, Norway, Moldova, etc..

The Republic of Moldova has concluded in 2007 the Strategic Cooperation Agreement with Europol and efficiently cooperates with Europol in preventing and fighting the organized crime, terrorism and another forms of international crime. The Republic of Moldova and Europol signed in Chisinau on 18 December 2014 the Agreement on Operational and Strategic Cooperation which will replace the existing Strategic Cooperation Agreement.
