Eurojust is an agency of the European Union (EU) dealing with judicial co-operation in criminal matters. It was established in 2002 with the goal to enhance the effectiveness of the competent authorities within Member States when they are dealing with the investigation and prosecution of serious cross-border and organized crime.
Eurojust is the first permanent network of judicial authorities to be established anywhere in the world. Eurojust hosts meetings between investigators and prosecutors from different states dealing with individual cases and at a strategic level and specific types of criminality. Eurojust fulfils a unique role as a new permanent body in the European legal area. Its mission is to enhance the development of Europe-wide co-operation on criminal justice cases.
The seat of Eurojust is in The Hague.
The Agreement on Cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and Eurojust was signed at The Hague on 10 July 2014, which entered into force on 21 October 2016.
