The Republic of Moldova and the Kingdom of the Netherlands are parties to the Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement for Legalization for Foreign Public Documents of 5 October 1961. The Convention provides for the simplified certification of public documents with an Apostille.
The Apostille is a certification affixed by the competent authorities of one country on its official documents in order to be recognized in another country.
In the Republic of Moldova the Apostille is issued by the Ministry of Justice.
Apostille is not affixed to:
- documents executed by embassies and consulates (diplomatic or consular agents);
- administrative documents dealing directly with commercial or customs operations;
- multilingual extracts from civil status.
The list of countries and recognition procedures for the documents issued by the authorities of other countries to be used in the Republic of Moldova and for the documents issued by the authorities of the Republic of Moldova to be used in other countries can be found here.
